ensembleNEWSRQ joins forces with the renowned vocal band Roomful of Teeth for a boundary-pushing program of vocal and instrumental works by Angélica Negrón, Wally Gunn, and Caroline Shaw that explores the expressive possibilities of the human voice and contemporary chamber music.

When Words Fail demonstrates rhythmic intensity, haunting lyricism, and bold sonic experimentation in works by Shawn Allison, Timo Andres, Curtis Stewart, Vivian Fung, and Charles Wuorinen, anchored by the world premiere of Allison’s Vigil for the Disappeared.

A powerful evening of visionary contemporary music featuring world premieres by Luna Lab alumnae alongside masters György Kurtág, Missy Mazzoli and Ellen Reid, culminating in Kurtág’s gripping song cycle Messages of the Late R. V. Troussova for soprano and chamber ensemble celebrating his 100th birthday. Lucy Fitz Gibbon solos.

A virtuosic evening for two pianos and two percussionists featuring hypnotic, immersive masterworks by Andrew McIntosh and George Crumb, performed by pianists Han Chen and Conor Hanick alongside percussionists George Nickson and Mike Truesdell.
